Samuel was born March 1825 in Henry County, TN, and died between 1900 and 1905 in Henry County, TN. Elizabeth Morton was born 1824 in NC, probably Montgomery County, and probably died between 1885 and 1895 in Henry County. She was the daughter of George Simeon Morton and Elizabeth McSwain.

Smith, Samuel, age 35, Escaped capture at Island No. 10, and did not return for duty. Lived in Henry Co., TN. (TN Confederate Pension # 4822). UNIT: 46th Inf.
